The Wandle Trust delivered this community engagement project between 2015 – 2017. It was aimed at educating local people on how to protect the River Wandle from pollution and encourage them to take practical steps to reduce, remove and report sources of litter and pollution.

A River Guardians volunteer team was set up and worked hard to complete 19 river clean-up sessions to remove as much pollution as they could from the Wandle, as well as being trained to respond to Category 3 pollution incidents, acting as the eyes and ears on the ground for the Environment Agency.

Take a look at the River Guardian Guide to learn how you can help too!
